Chandigarh: Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat said that Gurukul Kurukshetra is a living legacy of the thoughts, ideals and resolve of Swami Shraddhanand Ji, the great freedom fighter, social reformer and educationist. Swami Shraddhanand Ji had given impetus to the Shuddhi Movement from this very land and also carried out significant activities from here during the freedom struggle. He dedicated his entire life to the nation, society and the establishment of human values.

Acharya Devvrat was addressing the 114th Foundation Day celebrations of Gurukul Kurukshetra and the ‘Balidan Shatabdi Samaroh’ organised to mark 100 years of the martyrdom of Swami Shraddhanand Ji at the Gurukul in Kurukshetra on Sunday.
President of India Droupadi Murmu, Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, representatives of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Acharya Devvrat said that the real objective of education at a Gurukul was not merely to impart academic knowledge to students, but also to make them physically strong, mentally capable, value-oriented and people of strong character. Students of Gurukul were the real ‘Gen Z’ in the true sense, as they imbibed discipline, values and principles of life along with education.
On the occasion, Acharya Devvrat also unveiled the logo of ‘Balidan Shatabdi Samaroh’ of Swami Shraddhanand Ji. He informed that year-long programmes would be organised as part of the centenary celebrations to familiarise the younger generation with the life, thoughts, social reform initiatives and contributions of Swami Shraddhanand Ji towards the nation.
