Chandigarh : National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana Director Dr. Virender Yadav said on Friday that the State will launch the Pulse Polio campaign across the state on June 28 as part of the National Immunisation Day (NID) programme, with a target to administer oral polio vaccine to nearly 36 lakh children in the 0–5 years age group.

Dr. Virender Yadav further shared  that 17,331 polio booths will be set up across the state on June 28. Thereafter, during the next two days, 34,000 teams will conduct house-to-house visits to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered.

On the first day of the campaign, polio booths will be established at prominent locations to administer the vaccine. On June 29 and 30, health teams will visit homes to vaccinate children who were missed on booth day. To ensure the quality and effective implementation of the campaign, around 3,400 supervisors have been deployed to monitor and inspect booth operations and field activities. In addition, officers from the State Headquarters have also been assigned to districts to monitor the campaign.

He appealed to the public to bring all eligible children aged 0–5 years to the nearest polio booth on June 28 and cooperate with health teams during the following two days. He also requested people to extend full cooperation to health teams visiting their homes during the following two days to ensure that no eligible child is left uncovered.

The Health Department has also appealed to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), kindergartens and crèches to facilitate visits by health workers and ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops.

Dr. Virender Yadav further said that all the concerned departments and organisations, including the Women and Child Development Department, School Education Department, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies Department, Public Relations Department, Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), Labour Department, AYUSH Department, Medical Education Department, Transport Department, Indian Railways, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and Rotary, among others, will extend the necessary support for the effective implementation of the campaign.
