On November 1, President Murmu will travel to Kurukshetra in Haryana to attend the ‘Hirak Jayanti’ celebrations marking 60 years since the state’s formation.

President Murmu’s Recent Visit to Chhattisgarh

Before her upcoming engagements in Maharashtra and Haryana, President Murmu visited Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh on October 23 to attend the Bastar Dussehra celebrations. She addressed a public programme during the event.

Describing Bastar Dussehra as a reflection of Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity and collective faith, the President highlighted the participation of different sections of society in the festival. She said its traditional rituals strengthen bonds and a sense of belonging among communities.

President Highlights Development and Tribal Welfare

During her address in Jagdalpur, Murmu also spoke about the impact of Naxalism on Chhattisgarh and the efforts made by the Centre and the state government to address the problem. She said the region had moved beyond the violence associated with Naxalism and was witnessing faster development.

The President welcomed initiatives aimed at helping tribal entrepreneurs through financial assistance and better access to markets. She expressed confidence that such measures would contribute to the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 by ensuring development reaches all sections of society.

Murmu also drew attention to the traditional relationship tribal communities share with nature. Noting that many communities regard nature as a source of life and worship it, she stressed that environmental protection must remain an important part of the country’s development process.
