Agriculture Minister chiars District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting at Karnal

Chandigarh : Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana on Friday chaired the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Karnal. During the meeting he  resolved seven of the 12 grievances, while ordering fresh inquiries into the remaining five cases.

The Minister said that government officers must make regular field visits, closely monitor work under their respective departments and resolve issues at the grassroots so that fewer complaints reach the administration. He said that the responsibility of the administration is not merely to respond to complaints but to proactively address public issues before they escalate.

The Cabinet Ministers said that officers must remain accessible to the people and ensure that grievances related to basic civic needs are resolved on priority,” the minister said. Among the cases reviewed, a complaint filed by residents of DRP Enclave in Sector 36 was deferred to the next meeting as the required departmental report had not been submitted. Another complaint by Satish Kumar of Kunjpura village was also kept pending until a written settlement is reached and the complainant receives justice.

Furthermore, a complaint against Chaitanya Techno School, Karnal, was deferred after the District Education Officer informed the committee that schools are currently closed for summer vacations and an inspection would be conducted once they reopen, following which a report would be submitted.

In a complaint filed by Surjit Singh of Gondar village regarding alleged violations of mining norms by a contractor, the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the inquiry report. Taking note of the objections,  the Minister directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner to conduct a fresh investigation.

In anoter complaint, the Cabinet Minister direcetd the officers of the Excise and Taxation Department to examine the matter from a social welfare perspective and asked the SDM, Nilokheri, to conduct a detailed inquiry. The case was deferred for further consideration.

Another complaint by Anil Kumar of Alipur Khalsa village alleged that vibrations from heavy machinery operating in a neighbouring industrial unit had caused cracks in his house, besides resulting in air and water pollution. Officers of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board informed the committee that the allegations were found to be prima facie correct and a show-cause notice had already been issued to the company. The department assured that appropriate action would be taken to resolve the matter.

MLAs, Sh.  Jagmohan Anand and, Sh. Yogender Rana, Karnal Mayor, Smt.  Renu Bala Gupta, Deputy Commissioner,  Dr Anand Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, senior district officials and nominated members of the Grievance Redressal Committee were present at the meeting.
