Ludhiana: Panic and heightened security measures gripped Ludhiana after senior officials of the Municipal Corporation reportedly received an email threatening bomb attacks on the city Mayor’s office and the Ludhiana residence of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
According to sources, the threatening message was circulated to the Municipal Commissioner and several official government email accounts early Monday morning. The email allegedly warned of planned explosions at multiple locations in the city and mentioned specific timings for the attacks.
Officials said the message carried the subject line referring to a bomb blast at the Mayor’s office. The sender reportedly claimed that an attack would take place at the Mayor’s office during the afternoon hours, while another explosion was threatened at Diljit Dosanjh’s residence later in the evening. The email also carried a warning stating that anyone extending support to the singer would face consequences.
Investigators revealed that the message referenced the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and used provocative language suggesting retaliation. The sender further claimed that similar actions would continue until June 6.
The threat mail was allegedly signed in the name of the “Khalistan National Army.” Two individuals identifying themselves as Engineer Gurnakh Singh and Dr. Gurnirvair Singh were mentioned in the communication.
Soon after the email surfaced, Ludhiana Police and cybercrime officials began an intensive probe. Cyber experts are currently working to trace the origin of the email and determine whether the threat is genuine or intended to create panic.
Security has been tightened around sensitive government buildings and other important locations in the city. Authorities are also expected to review arrangements near the residence of Diljit Dosanjh as a precautionary measure.
Police officials have appealed to the public not to spread rumours and assured citizens that all necessary safety measures are being taken while the investigation continues.
