Beed— A group of unidentified thieves broke into a public sector bank in Maharashtra’s Beed district early Thursday morning and fled with ₹18.5 lakh in cash, police said. The burglary occurred around 3 a.m. at the bank’s Pali branch, located along the Dhule–Solapur National Highway.

According to officials, the suspects used gas cutters to break open the bank’s main locker before escaping with the cash. Police reached the scene soon after being alerted but the culprits had already fled. Forensic experts have collected samples and other physical evidence from the site to aid the investigation.

Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the burglars. Beed Rural Police Inspector Maruti Khedkar said a case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab those responsible.
