SIR-2026: 19.35 Lakh Notices Issued for Verification of Electoral Rolls

Voters can submit their claims and objections by August 30 as per the prescribed procedure

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, A. Sreenivas has appealed to citizens to check the names of themselves and all eligible members of their families in the draft electoral roll. If the name of any eligible person is not included in the electoral roll, a claim for inclusion can be submitted through Form-6 along with the required documents and declaration. So far, 25,315 Form-6 applications have been received.

Similarly, Form-8 can be submitted along with the required documents and declaration for correction of name, address, age, photograph or any other details in the electoral roll. So far, 27,426 Form-8 applications have been received. In case of an ineligible, deceased, shifted or otherwise already registered voter, an objection for deletion of the name can be filed through Form-7 as per the prescribed procedure. So far, 1,078 Form-7 applications have been received.

The draft electoral roll under SIR-2026 was published on July 31. August 30 is the last date for checking names in the draft electoral roll and filing claims and objections regarding any discrepancy or other issue.

19.35 Lakh Notices Issued for Verification

During the verification and scrutiny of the electoral roll, a total of 18,56,138 voters have been identified under No Mapping/Unmapped Cases, where their details could not be mapped with the previous electoral roll, while 26,31,312 voters have been identified with various types of discrepancies. These cases are being examined as per the prescribed procedure.

To provide the concerned voters an appropriate opportunity to present their case and submit the required documents and evidence, hearing notices are being issued. As of August 14, 2026, a total of 19,35,126 notices have been issued.

Voters in Unmapped Cases Can Submit Available Documents

Particularly in No Mapping/Unmapped Cases, the concerned voters may submit available documents relating to themselves, their family members, parents or relevant previous records. On the basis of these documents, the concerned officials will verify the available records and decide the cases as per the prescribed rules.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, has clarified that receipt of a hearing notice does not mean that a final decision has been taken to delete the voter’s name from the electoral roll. It is a part of the verification and hearing process, under which the concerned person is provided a full opportunity to present their case and submit the required documents.

Claims and Objections Can Be Filed at ERO/AERO Offices or Online

Claims and objections can be submitted at the concerned ERO/AERO office. Citizens can also apply online through voters.eci.gov.in as per the prescribed procedure.The Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, has appealed to citizens to check their names and details in the draft electoral roll. If they receive a hearing notice, they should take it seriously, appear on the prescribed date and submit the necessary documents, thereby cooperating in the process. Action is being taken as per the prescribed procedure to ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate, updated and error-free while protecting the interests of eligible voters.
