Sawai Madhopur: A major road accident occurred in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district on Wednesday morning when a private school bus carrying children overturned near Bhallu Bridge on the Isarda–Shivad Road in the Chauth Ka Barwara subdivision. Panic gripped the area after the mishap, which took place around 8:30 a.m. near a local beer factory.
According to initial reports, the bus was bringing around 50 students from Sitarampur village to a private school in Shivad when a cow suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle. The driver tried to avoid hitting the animal but lost control, causing the bus to topple into a roadside ditch.
Police, administrative officials, and ambulances immediately reached the spot after receiving the alert. Local residents joined rescue efforts, helping to pull the trapped children out of the vehicle. The injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Shivad, where 8 to 10 children were discharged after primary treatment. However, one child, Aman Yadav, was reported to be in serious condition and was referred to Tonk for advanced medical care.
Following the accident, angry villagers staged a protest against the administration, blaming the parked gravel trucks along the narrow road for the mishap. They said that heavy truck traffic on the route makes driving risky and often leads to accidents.
The villagers blocked the Isarda–Shivad road, deflated the tires of some trucks, and demanded that mining trucks be banned from using the stretch. Traffic movement was completely halted on both sides for several hours until police officers intervened and tried to pacify the protesters.
The residents urged the district administration to ensure regular police patrolling and immediate restrictions on heavy vehicles in the area to prevent further accidents.
