Mohali: An exchange of gunfire broke out between police personnel and suspected criminals in Saneta village of Punjab’s Mohali district on Wednesday, September 9, leaving one suspect injured.

According to preliminary operational reports, a police team intercepted the individuals in the rural area, prompting an armed confrontation as gunshots were exchanged between both sides. Law enforcement officers opened retaliatory fire to subdue the armed suspects, resulting in bullet injuries to one of the individuals.

Security teams immediately cordoned off the encounter perimeter to secure the area and prevent any accomplices from escaping. Senior police officials and forensic teams were dispatched to the spot, while the injured suspect was taken into custody and transported to a nearby medical facility under heavy guard.

Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances that triggered the armed face-off. Formal verification is currently underway to ascertain the identities of the suspects, their criminal affiliations, and potential links to organized criminal networks, with detailed disclosures from the district police leadership expected shortly.
