CHANDIGARH: Punjab is fast emerging as a major IT destination, with Mohali set to become a leading hub for AI, digital innovation and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said after holding a key meeting with a NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Services Companies) delegation in Chandigarh. The Chief Minister said world-class infrastructure, a strong skilled talent pool, lower business costs, Invest Punjab and the new GCC Policy 2026 are creating a strong ecosystem for technology companies and fresh investment. The government, he said, is focused on bringing more investment to Punjab and creating new employment opportunities for its youth.
Sharing a video snippet from the meeting, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated on X: “Today, held an important meeting with a NASSCOM delegation in Chandigarh with the objective of making Punjab a leader in the IT sector. Punjab is now emerging as a major hub for AI, digital innovation and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). With world-class infrastructure, Mohali is rapidly becoming the preferred destination in North India. We have a strong and skilled talent pool from reputed institutions such as IIT and ISB. At the same time, investors are being provided full support through lower business costs, Invest Punjab and the new GCC Policy 2026. The AAP government is continuously working to bring new investment to Punjab and create new employment opportunities for the state’s youth.”
During the meeting, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Punjab is focusing on technology-driven transformation and aims to capitalise on emerging technological paradigms to attract next-generation industrial investments into the state. I invite NASSCOM to partner with Punjab in the state-of-the-art Startup Incubator in Mohali and contribute to strengthening the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem.”
The Chief Minister noted, “Punjab has roped in Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), IIT Ropar and the Union Ministry of Agriculture to deploy AI-driven solutions across the agricultural landscape of the state. This collaboration will work towards integrating smart farming models, precision agriculture tools and predictive analytics to enhance farmer yields and promote sustainability.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that multinational corporations are showing immense interest in investing across Punjab, particularly in Mohali. “Mohali offers an unbeatable infrastructure mix, with world-class air, railway and road connectivity, top-tier medical facilities, high-performing educational institutions and ample availability of land. These strengths make Mohali an attractive destination for global companies and technology-driven investments,” he said.
“Six world-class universities are situated in and around Mohali, giving global companies direct access to a rich talent pool. This combination of skilled human resources, quality infrastructure and connectivity provides companies with a strong ecosystem for establishing and expanding their operations,” he said.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that Punjab was the first state in the country to pass the historic Right to Business Act, significantly easing the process of setting up operations for entrepreneurs. “Punjab’s robust Single Window System and end-to-end digitised public service delivery have emerged as industry benchmarks. Several other states have also adopted and emulated the Punjab model. Our government is committed to making it easier for businesses to invest, operate and expand in Punjab,” he said.
The Chief Minister affirmed, “Our government is working continuously to strengthen the investment ecosystem, promote technology-driven growth and create new employment opportunities for the youth.”
Minister for Industries & Commerce, and Investment Promotion Aman Arora, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and others were also present during the meeting.
