Referring to recent action against those accused of compromising examination processes, Mr. Modi said individuals responsible for tampering with students’ futures are already facing legal consequences. He added that the government has established fast-track courts to ensure the speedy disposal of cases related to examination malpractice.

The Prime Minister also said the Centre is working towards introducing new legislation in Parliament that would provide stricter legal provisions to deter paper leaks and other forms of examination fraud. According to him, the proposed legal framework is intended to strengthen accountability and impose tougher penalties on offenders.

Emphasising the need for long-term reforms, Mr. Modi said India’s examination system must evolve to become more transparent, credible and technology-driven. He noted that maintaining the integrity of examinations is essential to protecting the aspirations of millions of students.

To achieve this objective, the government has entrusted Nandan Nilekani with leading a task force that will examine ways to modernise the examination process by leveraging advanced technology and improving existing systems.

The panel is expected to study various aspects of examination management, including transparency, security, technological integration and institutional safeguards. The government will consider implementing the committee’s recommendations at the earliest after the report is submitted.

The announcement comes amid nationwide discussions on examination reforms following recent controversies surrounding alleged paper leaks in competitive examinations. The Centre has maintained that ensuring a fair and trustworthy examination system remains one of its top priorities.

Education experts believe the proposed task force could play a significant role in reshaping the country’s examination framework by introducing technology-based solutions and recommending structural reforms to prevent irregularities in future recruitment and entrance examinations.

With the latest initiative, the government has reiterated its commitment to creating an examination ecosystem that is transparent, secure and capable of protecting the interests of students across the country.
