CM inaugurates new office of State Commission for Backward Classes at Dharamshala

SHIMLA: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today virtually inaugurated the new office of Chairman of the H.P. State Commission for Backward Classes at Dharamsala from H.P. Secretariat that has been recently shifted from Shimla.

Speaking on the occasion, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended congratulations to the people of the Kangra district for this office and said the large population belongs to OBC in Kangra and adjoining districts. Shifting the Commission’s office to Dharamsala would spare people the inconvenience of travelling to Shimla and ensure quicker and more accessible services.

The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra to make necessary arrangements for opening of the office of Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority at Dharamsala at the earliest.

He said that the state government had declared Kangra district as Tourism Capital of the state and a number of government offices were being shifted to Kangra district. Plans were afoot to shift more offices to Kangra district in the coming times. He said that the state government was making earnest efforts to secure OBC status for Dodra Kwar area of Shimla district and Scheduled Tribe status for Bara Bhangal area of Kangra district.

Earlier, Chairman, Prabhat Chaudhary welcomed the Chief Minister and expressed gratitude for shifting the Commission Office to Dharamsala. He said that the move would greatly benefit the OBC population of Kangra and neighbouring districts by improving access to the Commission’s services.

President, State Congress Committee Vinay Kumar, MLAs Suresh Kumar, Vinod Sultanpuri and Sudarshan Bablu, former MLA Satpal Raizada were present at Shimla with the Chief Minister while Members of the Commission Rakesh Chaudhary, Advocate Kashmir Singh Bharati and Rajiv Rana, DC Hemraj Bairwa joined the event virtually from Dharamshala.
