Dilapidated Building Collapses Near Golden Temple After Heavy Rain

Amritsar – Continuous rainfall in Punjab has caused several old structures to collapse, with one incident reported on the shortcut route to the Golden Temple. Late last night, a portion of a dilapidated building gave way, though no casualties were reported.

Debris fell onto the road, blocking the passage completely and causing inconvenience to both devotees and local residents. According to reports, the building had earlier been partially demolished, but the rubble was never cleared, and a weak section was left standing.

Local resident Ashok Kapoor said authorities were repeatedly informed about the dangerous condition of the building, but no action was taken. He stressed that timely intervention could have prevented the situation.

Residents further expressed concern that many old and unsafe buildings in Amritsar’s older areas remain neglected. Despite repeated complaints, no corrective measures are taken, raising fears of a potential major tragedy if the issue is not addressed soon.
