New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the guests at the wedding of Rhea Badal, daughter of senior BJP leader and former Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, in New Delhi on Tuesday, November 3.
Modi congratulated the couple and gave his blessings to the newlyweds. Rhea married R.K. Martand Singh, whose family also has a prominent political background.
Martand Singh is the son of Vikramaditya Singh and the grandson of veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Dr Karan Singh. The marriage brought together two families associated with different political traditions.
Manpreet Badal Had Invited PM Modi With His Family
Ahead of the ceremony, Manpreet Singh Badal had met the Prime Minister along with his family to extend a personal invitation to the wedding.
Badal, who serves as the BJP’s national vice-president, was joined by several political figures during the wedding celebrations in the national capital.
Punjab BJP president Kewal Dhillon also attended the reception and shared photographs from the event.
Political Leaders Attend Reception Amid BJP-SAD Reunion Speculation
The presence of senior BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal leaders at the Delhi reception has attracted attention against the backdrop of discussions about a possible rapprochement between the two parties before the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.
The BJP and SAD were once allies in Punjab but parted ways in 2020. Their leaders’ presence at the celebrations has prompted renewed interest in the possibility of a political reunion.
However, attendance at a private family function does not establish that the two parties are holding formal talks or have reached any agreement on an alliance.
