Faridkot: A high-voltage political confrontation unfolded in Faridkot on Tuesday morning during the municipal elections after allegations surfaced regarding the alleged misuse of a bus to transport voters to polling stations.

The controversy began when Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon confronted local BJP leader Sunny Brar near a parked bus, accusing him of breaching election norms and attempting to influence the voting process.

According to AAP workers, the vehicle in question was allegedly being used to ferry voters to polling booths, an act they claimed violated the model code of conduct. Party supporters further alleged that the bus was linked to Army infrastructure, intensifying the political row and drawing sharp reactions from both sides.

Eyewitnesses reported heated arguments between the rival camps as party workers gathered around the spot. Slogans were raised by AAP supporters, while BJP workers defended their leader against the accusations. The commotion briefly disrupted traffic movement in the area and attracted a large crowd.

A video circulating locally showed the two leaders engaged in a tense exchange beside the stationary bus, with supporters from both parties arguing loudly as election day tensions escalated.

MLA Sekhon demanded immediate action from election authorities, urging officials to investigate the matter and ensure that no unauthorised vehicles were used to influence voters during the civic body polls.

Responding to the allegations, Sunny Brar denied any wrongdoing and maintained that he was merely present near the vehicle. He rejected claims that the bus was being used for transporting voters and termed the accusations politically motivated.

Despite the confrontation, polling in the area continued under security presence, with election officials monitoring the situation closely.
