Chandigarh: In a show of solidarity with flood-affected residents, all members of the Punjab Congress Legislative Party have decided to donate one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This comes after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his cabinet ministers, the Assembly Speaker, and all Aam Aadmi Party legislators pledged their salaries to support victims of the recent floods.

The Congress MLAs approved the donation unanimously, citing the severe damage caused by the floods across the state. Officials noted that the gesture reflects the lawmakers’ commitment to assisting affected communities during this challenging period.

Earlier, the Punjab government urged citizens to contribute generously to aid relief efforts. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that the teachings of the Gurus inspire acts of compassion and public service. The public has been encouraged to donate essential items such as ration, medicines, drinking water, bags of flour, pulses, and fodder for animals before September 2 to help those impacted by the floods.
