New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled a major interstate drug trafficking network, arresting two individuals and seizing high-quality cocaine valued at over 5 crores. The operation began on April 10, when officials acting on specific intelligence intercepted 29-year-old Javed Hussain near the Gazipur roundabout in East Delhi. During the search, police recovered 456 grams of fine-quality cocaine, commonly referred to in the trade as “crank.”
Following Hussain’s arrest and subsequent interrogation, investigators identified the primary source of the contraband as 25-year-old Soib Khan, based in Uttar Pradesh. A coordinated raid was conducted on April 22 in Bareilly, where Delhi Police, with the assistance of local authorities, apprehended Khan at his residence. Officials noted that both Hussain and Khan lack formal education; Hussain was previously employed at a jeans manufacturing unit in Northeast Delhi before turning to the illegal trade.
The investigation has revealed a sophisticated supply chain stretching across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Khan remains in police custody as officers work to trace the larger network and identify additional distributors and international links. This bust is part of an intensified crackdown on high-value narcotics entering the capital, with the Crime Branch now focusing on the original point of entry for the seized 5 kg haul.
