Jerusalem: Israeli authorities detained around 70 Palestinian men after discovering them concealed inside a garbage truck during a late-night operation, officials said.
According to police, the vehicle was intercepted as it attempted to enter Israel from the West Bank. The men are believed to have been trying to cross the border in search of employment opportunities.
Footage released by the police showed officers opening the rear compartment of the truck, where dozens of individuals were tightly packed inside the waste container. Armed personnel surrounded the vehicle as the men were asked to step out.
Several of those inside were seen raising their hands as they were escorted out one by one. Authorities confirmed that all individuals found in the truck were taken into custody for further questioning.
Officials said the incident highlights ongoing attempts by Palestinians to enter Israel without permits, often driven by economic hardship and limited job opportunities in their home regions.
An investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for organizing the transport and to determine whether any broader network is involved in facilitating such crossings.
