The arrest marks a major success for the coordinated efforts of Punjab Police, including its Counter Intelligence Wing and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell (OFTEC), along with central agencies. According to investigators, the accused had been on the run since June 2025, when he allegedly orchestrated the abduction and murder of the influencer, popularly known as Kamal Bhabhi, in Bathinda. The victim’s body was later recovered from a vehicle parked near a hospital in the city, sending shockwaves across the region.
Police officials revealed that Mehron had fled abroad soon after the crime to avoid arrest. However, through sustained tracking and intelligence inputs, authorities located him in the Middle East and initiated legal procedures for his return. His associates, who were allegedly involved in the crime, had already been arrested earlier.
The successful extradition and arrest are being seen as a strong message against those attempting to evade justice by fleeing the country. Officials reiterated their commitment to cracking down on serious crimes and ensuring public safety across the state.
