Chandigarh: A fresh change in weather patterns has been observed across Punjab and Chandigarh, with light drizzle reported in Mohali and parts of Chandigarh since early morning on Wednesday. The development comes amid forecasts of unstable weather conditions over the next few days.

According to the Meteorological Department, several districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall in isolated pockets. Areas including Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, and Patiala are expected to receive scattered showers during the day.

Officials have also issued a warning for strong winds across the region, with speeds likely to touch 60 to 70 kmph. Despite the rainfall activity, temperatures have remained on the higher side. The average temperature across the state has increased slightly over the past 24 hours and currently stands above the seasonal norm. Patiala recorded the highest temperature at 34°C, while Chandigarh registered around 32.4°C, contributing to warmer daytime conditions.

Meteorologists attribute the shifting weather to an active Western Disturbance over the northern hills, along with a developing cyclonic circulation impacting North India. While the immediate effect is expected to remain moderate, the system is likely to intensify over the next few days.

From March 28 onwards, rainfall activity is expected to expand across most parts of the state, with more widespread showers predicted on March 29 and 30. This is likely to bring some relief from the prevailing heat, as temperatures are expected to dip by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Officials said that while no major disruption is anticipated at present, residents are advised to stay alert to changing weather conditions, particularly due to gusty winds and intermittent rainfall expected through the weekend.
