IndiGo Flight Diverted to Lucknow After Bomb Threat, All 222 Passengers Safe

Lucknow: An IndiGo Airlines flight operating from Delhi to Bagdogra (West Bengal) was forced to make an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning after authorities received a bomb threat, police officials confirmed.

The aircraft, IndiGo flight 6E-6650, was carrying 222 passengers, including eight infants, along with two pilots and five crew members. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated following the landing.

According to officials, Air Traffic Control (ATC) received information regarding the bomb threat at around 8:46 am. In line with established security protocols, the aircraft was immediately diverted and landed safely at Lucknow airport at 9:17 am.

A statement issued by the Lucknow Police Commissionerate said that after landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay, where bomb disposal squads, security agencies and airport authorities began a comprehensive security inspection of the plane.

During the initial search, police recovered a handwritten note on a tissue paper containing the words “Plane mein bomb” (bomb in the plane). Following this, security agencies intensified their checks while ensuring passenger safety.

Officials stated that further investigation and legal proceedings are currently underway to identify the source of the threat. Police also clarified that the law and order situation remains normal and fully under control.
