East Delhi Triple Murder: Man Confesses to Killing Mother, Sister and Minor Brother Over Financial Distress

New Delhi: A chilling case of alleged familial homicide has surfaced from East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area, where a 25-year-old man is accused of killing his mother, sister and minor brother after feeding them food mixed with poisonous plant seeds. elimination. The accused later walked into a police station and confessed to the crime, citing extreme financial stress as the motive, police officials said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Yashbir Singh, who surrendered at the Laxmi Nagar police station around 5 pm and informed officers that he had killed three members of his family. Acting on the confession, police teams rushed to the family’s residence near Subhash Chowk, where they found the bodies of the three victims inside the house.

According to preliminary police investigations, the family had been facing serious financial hardship. Yashbir reportedly told investigators that his father, a truck driver, had been living separately for the past six months. The accused himself worked as a driver but had been unemployed during this period, adding to the family’s distress.

Police further stated that Yashbir claimed to have purchased a term life insurance policy worth approximately ₹1.5 crore and had allegedly made multiple attempts to end his own life over the past two months. He also told police that his mother had confronted him a day before the incident, though officials said these assertions are still being verified.

As per the accused’s statement, he allegedly prepared sweets by mixing them with dhatura seeds and fed them to his mother Kavita (46), sister Meghna (24) and younger brother Mukul (14). After the three lost consciousness, he is alleged to have killed them before going to the police station to surrender.

Police said the accused’s wife was not present at the house at the time of the incident, and her role, if any, is being examined. An FIR is in the process of being registered, and multiple investigation teams have been constituted to reconstruct the sequence of events and verify all claims made by the accused.

The case has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with authorities continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
