Abohar Village: Panic prevailed in Giddraanwali village near Abohar on Wednesday after a young man became trapped nearly 100 feet above the ground while performing a religious service at a local Gurdwara Sahib. The incident occurred during the customary changing of the Chola Sahib of the Nishan Sahib, a sacred ritual observed with deep reverence in Sikh tradition.

According to available information, the youth was climbing the Nishan Sahib when the supporting wire suddenly snapped, leaving him stranded at a dangerous height with no way to descend safely. The situation triggered immediate concern among devotees present at the Gurdwara.

On receiving information about the incident, the local administration acted swiftly. Fire brigade teams and ambulance services were rushed to the spot, and a rescue operation was launched without delay. Officials said the youth had been stuck at the height for over two-and-a-half hours as rescue teams worked carefully to bring him down, facing major challenges due to the extreme height and safety risks involved.

A large number of villagers gathered outside the Gurdwara Sahib, anxiously watching the rescue efforts and offering prayers for the youth’s safety. The police and district administration remained present at the site, closely monitoring the situation to ensure crowd control and prevent any untoward incident as the operation continued.
