Tehran: Tensions escalated further in the ongoing conflict involving Iran after senior military officials hinted at deploying a new and unspecified weapon, following the rejection of Tehran’s latest proposal by Donald Trump.
Iran’s naval leadership claimed that the country is preparing to introduce capabilities that adversaries would find difficult to counter, suggesting that the development has already caused concern among opposing forces. The remarks come amid heightened hostilities with the United States and Israel.
The warning follows Washington’s decision to dismiss Iran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for easing maritime restrictions. The proposal also suggested delaying discussions on Tehran’s nuclear programme, a condition the US has refused to accept.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor, remains at the centre of the standoff. Iran has imposed strict controls on shipping through the passage, while US forces have increased pressure on Iranian vessels, intensifying the confrontation and raising concerns over global oil supplies.
Iranian officials also claimed that their forces have carried out multiple retaliatory operations targeting strategic assets in the region, though such assertions have not been independently verified.
Meanwhile, Trump reiterated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a top priority, stating that economic and maritime pressure would continue until Tehran alters its position.
With both sides maintaining firm stances and rhetoric intensifying, prospects for a diplomatic breakthrough appear increasingly uncertain, as the conflict continues to impact regional stability and global markets.
