The victim, identified as Jaspal Singh, was actively serving as a resident priest at Gurdwara Sangra near Kitna village, where he resided with his wife. Investigating officers revealed that the primary suspect, Satinder Singh, accompanied by five other peer priests and a small group of unidentified accomplices, allegedly confronted Jaspal to demand a substantial share in the religious programmes conducted across the territorial jurisdiction.
