Chandigarh: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border arms trafficking, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has arrested Amit Singh, a resident of Guru Ki Wadali, Chheharta, and seized a cache of sophisticated weapons. The recovery includes five Glock pistols, four magazines, and a motorcycle used for the illegal operation.

According to the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), preliminary investigation has revealed that Amit Singh, in collusion with his associate Gurpreet Singh alias Ginny, was in contact with smugglers operating from across the border in Pakistan. These groups have been attempting to push weapon consignments into Punjab with the objective of disturbing the state’s peace and harmony.

Officials confirmed that the arrest has not only disrupted a planned delivery of weapons but has also exposed an active network working at the behest of Pakistan-based handlers. “The swift action has averted a major crime in the region,” a senior police officer said, adding that further raids and arrests are likely in the coming days as investigations progress.

The DGP reiterated that the Punjab Police is resolute in its mission to dismantle narco-terror and gangster syndicates operating with cross-border support. “We are committed to ensuring peace, stability, and the safety of our citizens. This recovery is a testament to the dedication of our force in preventing disruptive elements from taking root,” he added.

With heightened surveillance along vulnerable areas and continued crackdowns on illegal networks, the Punjab Police underlined that it will maintain an uncompromising stance against those attempting to destabilize the state.
