Chandigarh: The Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF) has arrested notorious gangster Aman Bhainswal, a known associate of the Bhau Gang, after he was deported from the United States. Bhainswal, who faces multiple serious criminal charges across Haryana, Punjab and Delhi, was taken into custody as soon as his flight landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday morning.

According to officials, Bhainswal was apprehended earlier by US authorities for immigration-related violations and subsequently deported to India. Acting on prior intelligence inputs, the STF remained on alert and detained him immediately upon arrival. He had been on the STF’s most-wanted list for a long time due to his involvement in violent crimes and organised extortion.

A resident of Bhainswal Kalan village in Sonipat district, Aman Bhainswal is accused in more than 10 criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and extortion. Investigations revealed that he had fled to the United States in 2025 by fraudulently obtaining a passport under the alias “Aman Kumar” using a fake address from Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area. Following this revelation, the STF registered a cheating case at Gohana Sadar police station and shared details with Interpol, which helped track his international movement.

Bhainswal’s name prominently surfaced in the high-profile firing incident at a sweet shop owned by Sitaram Halwai in Sampla, Rohtak. During the attack, the assailants allegedly left behind an extortion note demanding ₹1 crore, bearing the name of the Aman Bhainswal gang. Investigators have also found evidence linking him to the “Maturam Halwai” case in Gohana. Police say he was actively working for dreaded gangster Himanshu Bhau and played a key role in executing threats and coordinating criminal activities.

STF officials stated that Bhainswal will be produced before a court and sought on police remand to uncover the wider network of his associates and handlers, including those operating from abroad. Authorities believe his interrogation could provide crucial leads into cross-border gang operations and funding channels.

Haryana Police have highlighted that this arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown on gangsters who fled the country to evade law enforcement. In recent years, the STF has successfully brought back more than eight major criminals from abroad, including notorious figures such as Manpal and Joginder Goyat, reinforcing its intensified campaign against organised crime.
