Moga Police Book 11 Suspects in Brazen Murder of Village Sarpanch Harvinder Singh

MOGA — The Baghapurana police have formally registered a criminal case against eleven individuals in connection with the fatal shooting of Harvinder Singh, popularly known as Happy, the Sarpanch of Patton Hira Singh village. The legal proceedings were initiated following a detailed statement provided by Jaswinder Singh, a resident of the same village. The suspects named in the First Information Report (FIR) include Manpreet Singh, also known as Bablu from Jaimalwala village, Jobanpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh, and Jaskaran Singh, alias Jassu Sharma. In addition to these identified individuals, the police have also booked six to seven unidentified accomplices under charges of murder and other relevant sections of the law.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Gandhi provided details regarding the daylight ambush, stating that the Sarpanch was attacked while he was in the process of disembarking from his vehicle in front of a petrol pump on the Kotkapura Road. The assailants opened fire indiscriminately, leaving the victim in critical condition. Although he was quickly transported to a nearby medical facility, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission. The SSP emphasized that multiple specialized police units have been mobilized to track down and apprehend the fugitives involved in the crime.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities are meticulously scanning surveillance footage from cameras located near the crime scene and along the getaway route to establish the identity of the unidentified attackers. Police have also conducted several raids at suspected hideouts and are currently interrogating individuals who may have information regarding the motive or the whereabouts of the accused. SSP Gandhi assured the public that the investigation is being handled with the utmost seriousness and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice swiftly. The case is currently being spearheaded by Inspector Jatinder Singh, the station house officer of Baghapurana.
