Ludhiana: A late-night robbery attempt at a petrol pump near Cheema Chowk turned violent when three unidentified men attacked workers’ cabins with bricks and stones. The dramatic incident, which occurred around 12:30 a.m., was caught on CCTV and has once again raised questions about security in the area.

According to a pump employee, the assailants arrived to loot the station near Cheema Chowk in Ludhiana. They hurled bricks and stones at the cabin, smashing its glass panels. At the time, the staff had stepped away to a nearby factory. When no one emerged from the cabin, the attackers tried to grab the cash kept inside.

However, a Police Control Room (PCR) bike patrol in the vicinity heard the sound of breaking glass and rushed to the scene. They alerted other staff and arrived together, prompting the robbers to flee before they could steal anything. Despite a brief chase, the suspects managed to escape.

The pump worker alleged that this was the third such incident in four months. In an earlier case, attackers had assaulted a staff member and snatched his phone, but police reportedly failed to file a complaint. In another incident, a security guard caught a suspect, who later died, leading to the arrest of three employees.

Frustrated by repeated attacks and alleged police inaction, the victim said that despite filing a complaint about the latest incident, no officer had visited the site by evening. Even calls to the station in charge went unanswered. He urged the administration to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of local businesses.
