London: A 26-year-old Indian man was fatally stabbed in West London’s Southall area, prompting a major murder investigation and the arrest of at least seven suspects, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The victim, identified as Gurbhej Singh, was attacked near the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane. Another man was also stabbed during the incident but did not suffer life-threatening injuries. He was treated at a hospital and later discharged.
The Metropolitan Police said emergency services were alerted to the incident by the London Ambulance Service during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to save Singh, but he was pronounced dead at the location due to the severity of his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that Gurbhej Singh’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers as the investigation continues.
Following the fatal attack, police arrested at least seven individuals on suspicion of involvement in the murder. Detectives are currently working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said investigators believe Singh was attacked outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident,” Foxwell said. She also appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed the attack or possess CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area to come forward and assist investigators.
Police are examining evidence and speaking to witnesses as part of ongoing efforts to determine the motive behind the attack and identify all those responsible.
The killing has sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly among residents of Southall, which is home to a large South Asian population. Investigators have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Metropolitan Police as inquiries remain ongoing.
