Chandigarh: Enforcement Directorate officials continued their search operation in Punjab on Friday as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving prominent real estate groups. The agency remained stationed at a residential apartment in Kharar more than a day after the raids first began.

The flat, located in the Western Towers society at Chajju Majra, remained under heavy security cover as CRPF personnel guarded the premises and restricted movement around the building. Residents said officials were seen moving in and out of the apartment throughout the night while the investigation continued.

The searches are linked to a probe into alleged fraud in land-use approvals, suspected money laundering activities, and complaints involving property investors and landowners. Teams also continued inspections at offices and sites connected to Dhir Constructions and other developers across Mohali and Chandigarh.

Thursday’s raid drew attention after reports surfaced that bags allegedly filled with cash bundles were thrown from the building during the operation. Videos and eyewitness accounts from the area quickly spread across social media, although officials have not yet confirmed the amount of money recovered.

Sources said the flat being searched is associated with Nitin Gohal, who is believed to have links with influential individuals in Punjab’s political and administrative circles. However, no official statement has been issued regarding his role in the case.

Investigators are reportedly examining financial records, property documents, electronic devices, and transaction details as part of the ongoing inquiry. Officials suspect that illegal financial dealings may have taken place through real estate projects and land conversion approvals.

Residents of the housing society described an atmosphere of tension since the raid began. Security personnel remained deployed at entry and exit points, while agency officials continued to work in shifts inside the complex. During the searches, one officer was also seen accompanying children from the residence to school amid the ongoing proceedings.

The Enforcement Directorate has so far remained tight-lipped about the findings of the operation. Authorities are expected to continue analysing seized materials to determine whether further action or arrests may follow in the coming days.
