CM Bhagwant Mann Takes Dig At Raghav Chadha And Other “Defectors”, Compares Them With “Giner And Garlic”

Chandigarh: Amid escalating political tensions in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has sharply criticised party rebels who recently switched sides, including Raghav Chadha, accusing them of placing personal ambitions above public responsibility.

In a strongly worded statement, CM Mann used a vivid comparison, likening the defectors to “ginger and garlic,” suggesting that while such elements may add flavour individually, they cannot form a complete entity on their own. The remark was seen as a direct attack on leaders who recently walked out of the party.

“Ginger, garlic, cumin, fenugreek powder, red chili, black pepper, and coriander—these 7 things together make the vegetable taste great, but on their own, they can’t become a “vegetable”,” he said.

Earlier on Friday, while addressing a press conference, the Chief Minister alleged that those who left had benefited from key positions without facing direct electoral challenges and claimed their departure reflected opportunistic motives rather than a commitment to public service. He maintained that the party’s ideology and collective strength outweigh any individual leader.

Reaffirming loyalty to party leadership under Arvind Kejriwal, CM Mann said the organisation operates with discipline and unity, describing its members as dedicated to a common mission. He also warned that leaders who switch sides for short-term gains often face uncertain political futures.

The remarks come in the wake of a major political development involving the exit of several prominent MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh and others, a move that has stirred debate across the state’s political landscape.
