Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala): A 100-year-old man, Bachan Singh, was safely evacuated from a flood-affected village in Sultanpur Lodhi by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

Rising water levels in the Beas River had prompted Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal to urge residents to shift to safer areas. Acting on the advisory, several families reached out to the district administration through emergency helpline numbers.

Bachan Singh’s family sought immediate help, after which an SDRF team carried out the rescue operation. Deputy Commissioner Panchal later met the centenarian, ensured he received medical attention, and directed officials to provide ration supplies to his family.
