New Delhi: US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said its forces have redirected 83 commercial vessels in the Arabian Sea as part of efforts to enforce a US blockade against Iran.
In a post on social media, CENTCOM shared footage showing a US sailor guiding an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter onto the flight deck of the USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119) as the guided-missile destroyer operated in the Arabian Sea.
According to the US military command, its forces had, as of August 30, taken action against a total of 88 commercial vessels in connection with the blockade. Of these, 83 were redirected, while three were disabled and two were boarded.
CENTCOM said the operations were aimed at ensuring that commercial shipping complied with the restrictions imposed under the blockade.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions involving Iran and increased scrutiny of maritime traffic in the region. The Arabian Sea and surrounding waterways remain important routes for international commercial shipping, making military operations in the area significant for global trade and maritime security.
The latest figures released by CENTCOM indicate the scale of the US military’s ongoing efforts to enforce the blockade and monitor vessels operating in the region.
