Mohali: In a significant crackdown on organised crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, working in coordination with SAS Nagar Police, has arrested a crucial aide linked to internationally based gangster networks. During the operation, police recovered a .32 calibre pistol along with five live cartridges from the accused.
According to preliminary findings, the arrested individual was allegedly operating under instructions from handlers based abroad. He had reportedly been assigned several targets across the Tricity region, raising concerns about potential violent incidents. Officials believe that his timely arrest has prevented serious criminal activities from unfolding.
This development comes shortly after another successful joint operation carried out on April 18, in which law enforcement agencies dismantled a gangster module and apprehended four suspects.
Investigators are now probing deeper to uncover the broader network, including both local associates and international connections. Efforts are underway to trace the chain of command and identify others involved in the conspiracy.
Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to cracking down on organised crime and maintaining law and order, emphasizing that sustained action will continue against gangster networks operating within and beyond the state.
