Chandigarh: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border terror networks, Punjab Police, working in coordination with central intelligence agencies and the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), has secured the deportation of two alleged operatives linked to the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). The duo was taken into custody upon landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi before being transported to Punjab for further investigation.

The accused, identified as Gurwinder Singh from Ambala and Manjeet Singh from Patiala, are alleged to have played a key role in supporting a Malaysia-based terror network that targeted critical railway infrastructure in Punjab, including sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor.

According to investigators, the deportation is part of an ongoing probe into a terror module that was previously dismantled by Punjab Police following an IED blast near Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib in January 2026 and an attempted explosion near Shambhu in Patiala district in April. Those investigations had led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of a cache of weapons and explosives, including an RPG launcher, RDX, improvised explosive devices, hand grenades and sophisticated firearms.

Further inquiries reportedly revealed an international financing network allegedly operated from Malaysia. Officials believe the two deported suspects were involved in routing funds through overseas channels to support terror activities and facilitate attacks intended to disrupt public order and critical infrastructure in Punjab.

The accused were produced before a court in Patiala on June 18, where they were remanded to police custody for detailed interrogation. Investigating agencies are now examining financial trails and communication links to identify additional associates and uncover the wider network behind the conspiracy.

Punjab Police said the operation reflects its continued commitment to dismantling terror infrastructure, choking financial support systems for extremist organisations and ensuring the safety and security of the state through coordinated national and international efforts.
