Chandigarh: A series of bomb threats targeting multiple prominent schools across Chandigarh on Tuesday prompted local police and security agencies to deploy bomb disposal squads and initiate widespread search operations. Upon receiving the alerts, the police control room ordered immediate safety evaluations, evacuated students, and bolstered security across school campuses and surrounding sectors.
The threat calls targeted several major educational institutions in the union territory, including Carmel Convent School in Sector 9B, St. John’s High School in Sector 26, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Sector 26, St. Stephen’s School in Sector 45B, and Vivek High School in Sector 38. Bomb disposal units, canine squads, and technical investigation teams carried out thorough inspections across all school premises and adjacent areas.
Senior police officials confirmed that no suspicious items or explosive devices were discovered during the searches. Investigators are currently analyzing call details and technical logs to trace the origin of the threatening communications, while security measures across educational institutions in the city remain heightened as a precautionary step.
