Imphal: Postal services have finally resumed in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, marking a crucial step toward restoring normalcy after more than 17 months of ethnic unrest. Officials confirmed that a mail van entered the district on Friday for the first time since the violence erupted in May 2023.
The vehicle reached Churachandpur headquarters at around 11:30 a.m., where it unloaded letters, parcels, and official consignments before returning to Imphal at approximately 12:40 p.m. This marks the first postal delivery operation in the district since the onset of the conflict, which claimed over 260 lives and displaced thousands.
Authorities described the resumption of postal operations as a symbol of gradual recovery and improved security conditions in the region. The move is expected to reconnect communities, restore administrative communication, and strengthen essential public services disrupted during the prolonged unrest.
