Jammu: A devastating road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the early hours of Sunday claimed the lives of three young men from Haryana after their car rammed into a truck near the Nagrota area of Jammu district. Two other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
According to officials, the collision occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the Jagti-Karli stretch of the highway. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was completely mangled, leaving rescue teams with a challenging operation to retrieve the occupants.
Two passengers died instantly at the accident site, while another critically injured victim was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu, where doctors later declared him dead despite efforts to save his life.
The deceased have been identified as Sikander Saifi, Shakti and Mohit Verma, all residents of Haryana. Their sudden deaths have cast a shadow of grief over their families and hometowns.
The two survivors, identified as Deepak Verma and Kuldeep Sharma, suffered injuries in the accident and were rushed to hospital for treatment. Their condition is being closely monitored by medical authorities.
Police personnel reached the scene soon after receiving information about the incident and initiated rescue operations before clearing the damaged vehicles from the highway. A case has been registered, and investigators are examining the circumstances that led to the collision.
The tragic accident once again highlights the risks associated with night-time travel on busy highways, where reduced visibility and high-speed movement often contribute to fatal crashes. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such heartbreaking incidents.
