Rudraprayag: The sacred portals of Kedarnath Temple were formally opened on Wednesday, marking a significant moment in the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. Devotees can now begin offering prayers at one of the most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended a warm welcome to pilgrims on the occasion. In a message shared publicly, he conveyed his शुभकामनाएं and prayed for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey for all visitors undertaking the pilgrimage.

The temple doors were opened with traditional rituals and Vedic chants, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The ceremonial arrival of the deity’s palanquin from its winter abode at Omkareshwar Temple had already drawn large numbers of devotees to the region.

Authorities have put in place strict security and administrative arrangements to ensure smooth conduct during the pilgrimage season. According to Niharika Tomar, the use of mobile phones, drones, and videography within the temple premises has been prohibited to preserve the sanctity of the shrine. Pilgrims have been urged to follow these guidelines.

Adding to the festive ambiance, the temple has been elaborately decorated with thousands of kilograms of flowers sourced from across India and abroad. The floral arrangements have enhanced the visual appeal of the ancient shrine, drawing admiration from visitors.

Officials have also issued advisories for pilgrims to be well-prepared for the weather, as temperatures in the high-altitude region remain extremely low due to recent snowfall. Visitors have been advised to carry warm clothing and adhere to safety guidelines.

The Char Dham Yatra, which includes visits to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, is one of India’s most important religious journeys and sees lakhs of devotees every year.
