PUNE — Pune Rural Police have taken a 22-year-old man into custody in connection with the fatal fall of local realtor Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort earlier this summer, authorities confirmed on Saturday. The suspect, identified as Ritesh Hange, represents the third arrest in the ongoing investigation, joining Agarwal’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, who are accused of orchestrating the fatal drop.
Investigators allege that Goyal, 20, and Chaudhary, 22, pushed Agarwal off a sheer cliff at the historic fort complex on June 18, leading to his instant death. Although Agarwal and Goyal had formally entered into an engagement in February, detectives determined that Goyal was maintaining a parallel relationship with Chaudhary, prompting the duo to hatch a scheme to eliminate the businessman after viewing him as an obstacle to their union.
Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill stated that subsequent inquiries uncovered Hange’s direct complicity in the conspiracy. Police officials disclosed that Hange was fully privy to earlier deliberations to incapacitate Agarwal through physical assault before the suspects settled on a lethal plot. Chaudhary reportedly contacted Hange immediately following the incident at the fort to confirm that the deed had been executed, prompting investigators to book him for criminal conspiracy as broader proceedings continue.
