SHIMLA: Governor Kavinder Gupta released the book ‘Drops of Change: Impactful Stories of Jal Shakti Department, Himachal Pradesh’ at Lok Bhavan, today. The publication has been brought out by the Jal Shakti Department under the leadership and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Jal Shakti Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and edited by Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department Dr. Abhishek Jain.

The book compiles nearly 100 success stories from different divisions of the department, highlighting innovative initiatives and impactful interventions in drinking water supply, irrigation, sewerage, water conservation, source sustainability, water quality, flood protection, community participation, innovation and capacity building.

While congratulating the department, the Governor said that the book was a living documentation of the dedication, innovation and tireless efforts of officers, engineers, employees and field personnel who were taking water services to people despite the challenging geographical conditions of the state. He said the stories featured in the book were not merely about schemes, projects and statistics, but about families, farmers and communities whose lives had been transformed through improved access to water. Such initiative reflects the important role of the Jal Shakti Department in improving livelihoods and strengthening water security in the state.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department Dr. Abhishek Jain said the book highlighted notable initiatives under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Catch the Rain campaign and externally aided projects supported by NDB, ADB and other agencies. He said the objective of ‘Drops of Change’ was not merely to document achievements, but also to convert successful practices into institutional knowledge that could be studied, learned from and replicated.

He said that the publication would also serve as a useful reference document for training, future planning and preserving the institutional memory of the department. Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
