Amritsar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police was injured in a shooting incident near Bhalla Pind while he was travelling towards Ajnala after completing his duty at the Amritsar Police Lines.
The incident took place in the area falling under the Rajasansi police station. ASI Jaswant Singh was riding his motorcycle towards Ajnala when an unidentified person allegedly opened fire at him near Bhalla Pind.
One of the bullets struck Singh in the head, leaving him seriously injured. Despite the gunshot wound, the police officer continued riding and managed to reach the Ajnala police station on his motorcycle.
After reaching the station, police personnel immediately arranged for his medical treatment and took him to a hospital in Amritsar. His condition is currently reported to be out of danger.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the person responsible for the attack. Inspector Gurpreet said efforts were underway to trace the unidentified assailant and establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The motive behind the attack has not yet been ascertained, and further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
