Bathinda: In a significant operation against organised crime, the Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested two suspected members of a criminal network in Bathinda and seized illegal weapons from their possession.
During the operation, police recovered two country-made .32 bore pistols along with five live cartridges, dealing a blow to an alleged gang operating under the direction of an incarcerated gangster based in the Ferozepur region.
According to preliminary findings, the arrested individuals have a history of criminal involvement and are believed to be associated with multiple serious offences, including attempted murder and violations under the Arms Act. Investigators suspect that the duo played an active role in facilitating the activities of the gang despite its alleged leader being lodged in jail.
A case has been registered at Civil Lines Police Station in Bathinda, and investigators have launched an extensive probe to uncover the wider network linked to the accused. Officials are examining both backward and forward connections to identify financiers, suppliers and other associates connected to the syndicate.
Punjab Police stated that the operation forms part of its sustained campaign against organised crime and illegal arms circulation across the state. Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling gangster networks and ensuring that those involved in criminal activities are brought to justice.
Further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses and law enforcement agencies work to expose the full extent of the network’s operations.
