Rautahat (Nepal): Nepali security forces have arrested two residents of Bihar for allegedly possessing counterfeit Indian currency in Rautahat district, officials said on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Bikram Kumar Paswan, 30, and Rahesh Kumar Sah, 42, both natives of Sitamarhi district in Bihar. According to Armed Police Force spokesperson Manish Thapa, the duo was apprehended late Tuesday night during a routine security check in southern Nepal.

Officials said the suspects were entering Nepal on an Indian-registered motorcycle when security personnel recovered fake Indian currency notes worth ₹2,500 from their possession. The seized notes included one counterfeit ₹500 note and ten fake ₹200 notes.

Following their arrest, both men were handed over to the District Police Office in Rautahat for further investigation. Authorities are now probing the source of the counterfeit currency and examining whether the suspects are linked to a larger fake currency network operating across the border.
