Red Fort Blast Case: Accused Amir Rashid Ali Remanded to 10-Day NIA Custody

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday sent Amir Rashid Ali, an accused in the recent Red Fort blast case, to 10 days of custody under the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Ali was brought before the Principal District and Sessions Judge amid tightened security arrangements.

Journalists were barred from entering the courtroom during the proceedings, and officials have not yet disclosed further case details. The NIA is expected to question Ali extensively over the next several days as the agency pieces together the events leading up to the deadly explosion.

The blast, caused by an explosives-packed vehicle detonating near the historic Red Fort on November 10, left 13 people dead and several others injured. Investigators have said that the car was being driven by Umar Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, who is believed to have been linked to a sophisticated “white collar” terror network.

This terror module was reportedly uncovered after authorities recovered large quantities of explosives from Faridabad in Haryana, pointing to a wider conspiracy that may involve multiple operatives across states.

The NIA’s focus now includes tracing the chain of command, funding routes, and potential foreign involvement in the planning of the attack. With Ali now in custody, officials are expected to probe his suspected role and his connections with Nabi and other members of the module.

Further updates are awaited as the investigation continues to expand.
