Noida (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation and infrastructure expansion.

The Prime Minister was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, along with other dignitaries. Tight security arrangements were enforced during the high-profile visit.

Developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore, the airport’s first phase is designed as a multi-modal transport hub, integrating seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro and regional transit networks.

Officials said the project will also feature a cargo hub with an initial capacity to handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, which can be expanded to nearly 18 lakh metric tonnes in the future.

The airport is expected to handle 12 million passengers per annum in its initial phase, with scalability up to 70 million passengers annually as the project expands. During the visit, Narendra Modi also inspected the terminal facilities.

The development is being seen as a key boost to regional connectivity and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh, positioning Jewar as a major aviation hub in northern India.
