New Delhi: An alliance of twenty-five opposition parties operating under the INDIA bloc banner concluded a crucial strategic meeting in New Delhi on Monday, culminating in five major consensus decisions aimed at challenging the central government. Chief among the outcomes is a unanimous decision to formally write to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant against the ongoing nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of electoral rolls, which the opposition alleges has led to mass voter disenfranchisement.

Addressing the media following the high-powered huddle at the Constitution Club, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced that the joint communication regarding “vote loot” and the systemic theft of elections would be delivered to the Chief Justice very soon. Flanked by top leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, and Akhilesh Yadav, the bloc also demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The opposition leaders strongly condemned the minister, stating that he presided over the absolute betrayal of lakhs of students affected by recent irregularities and paper leaks in the national NEET and CBSE examinations.

To combat ongoing governance issues, the alliance demanded that the Union Government immediately convene an all-party meeting to address a precarious domestic economic situation, rising unemployment, inflation, and prevailing agrarian distress. Despite notable absences from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Tamil Nadu-based regional parties like the DMK, the attending leaders structured a long-term roadmap for alliance sustainability, agreeing to hold formal bloc meetings every two months with the next summit scheduled for Hyderabad in August. Furthermore, the alliance resolved to maintain tight legislative coordination during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, establishing a framework for daily morning strategy sessions inside the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
