New Delhi: A video purportedly showing the girl booked for allegedly using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a student protest has surfaced on social media, in which she apologises for her remarks and seeks forgiveness from the public.
In the viral clip, the girl is seen with folded hands, expressing regret over her actions. She claims that she made the remarks after being influenced by others present at the protest and says she now deeply regrets the incident.
“I made inappropriate comments against the Prime Minister after coming under the influence of some people. I realise my mistake and sincerely apologise,” she says in the video.
Interestingly, while the FIR reportedly describes the accused as 25 years old, the girl claims in the apology video that she is 15 years old. She describes the incident as the “first and last mistake” of her life and appeals to people across the country to forgive her.
“I am only 15 years old. What I did cannot be justified. I feel ashamed and request everyone to forgive me,” she says in the video.
The authenticity of the apology video has not been independently verified.
The development comes days after a complaint was registered against the girl over her alleged remarks made during a protest. Based on the complaint, Noida Police lodged a Zero FIR, which was later transferred to the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi for further investigation.
According to the complaint, the alleged comments were considered offensive to the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office and capable of disturbing public harmony.
The apology video surfaced shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message urging restraint and compassion in response to abusive slogans raised against him during recent student protests.
In his message, the Prime Minister said abusive language could never resolve differences and appealed to society to guide young people who may have gone astray rather than respond with anger.
He described those involved as “misguided youngsters” and said that while their language was unacceptable, punishment alone would not bring about change. Instead, he urged people to help them learn from their mistakes and move forward.
The case remains under investigation, while the viral apology video continues to draw widespread attention on social media.
