New Delhi: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) consumers in Delhi-NCR and several other cities will have to pay more from Saturday, August 29, after Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) announced an increase of Rs 3.89 per kg in CNG prices.
The revised rates took effect from Saturday and come at a time when international liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices have remained elevated, increasing the cost of gas procured for the city-gas distribution network.
Following the revision, CNG in Delhi now costs Rs 86.98 per kg. In Noida and Ghaziabad, motorists will pay Rs 95.59 per kg, while the revised rate in Gurugram stands at Rs 92.01 per kg.
Why Has CNG Become More Expensive?
IGL attributed the increase to the higher cost of imported LNG.
The company said international LNG prices have stayed at elevated levels and that the resulting increase in input costs had become significant enough to require a price adjustment.
According to the company, the Rs 3.89-per-kg increase is intended to partially absorb the additional cost of gas.
The hike is likely to affect a large number of private motorists as well as commercial vehicle operators who rely on CNG as a relatively lower-cost automotive fuel.

Impact on CNG Vehicle Owners
The latest increase means drivers will now spend more every time they refuel their vehicles. The impact could be more noticeable for taxis, auto-rickshaws, delivery vehicles and other commercial transport operators that consume larger quantities of CNG every day.
For private vehicle owners, the additional expense will depend on daily mileage and fuel consumption.
The latest revision also comes at a time when fuel prices remain a closely watched issue for households and businesses, particularly in major urban centres where CNG-powered vehicles are widely used.
With the new rates coming into force from August 29, consumers in Delhi-NCR and the other affected markets will see the higher prices reflected at CNG stations from Saturday.
